Today’s English Tip: three synonyms for fear

👻🎃🤡 As today is Halloween, here are three verbs to express fear: scare, frighten and terrify.

What really scares you and why? 🤡🎃👻

😱😬🎃 Here are some questions using the verbs scare, frighten and terrify:

  1. What's the scariest movie you've ever seen, and why did it scare you?

  2. Has anything ever frightened you so much that you couldn't sleep at night? Can you describe the experience?

  3. Have you ever been terrified by a haunted house or a Halloween attraction? What happened that made it so terrifying?

  4. How do you deal with things that scare you? Do you confront your fears, or do you avoid them?

  5. Can you share a personal experience where something unexpectedly frightened you in a seemingly ordinary situation?

  6. Do you believe that people are more easily frightened by supernatural or real-life threats? Why?

  7. Have you ever tried to scare or prank someone for fun? How did they react, and what was the outcome?

  8. What's the scariest animal encounter you've had in your life? How did you react in that situation?

  9. How do horror movies and scary stories use suspense and tension to terrify the audience?

  10. Have you ever been so frightened that it affected your behavior or decision-making in a significant way? What happened?
