English Teacher Goes To Naples & Pompeii!

Hello! So summer whizzed by! I wanted to share one of my highlights of this year so far: my birthday trip to Naples. Where to even begin? It has to be one of my top three favourite European cities. There’s something so indescribably charming about this city; between incredibly welcoming Neapolitans, an overwhelming amount of pizzerias and a constant city buzz, you can’t help but fall in love with the place. My personal favourite moments were meeting a local artist who generously gave my partner and I a private tour of her artwork over the last 50 years, queueing for two hours to dine at the local favourites’ pizzeria (L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele) to eat one of the best pizzas of my life and wandering down the narrow streets of Italy’s third-biggest city.

If you take a trip to Naples, Pompeii is a must. Having underestimated the scale of this vast archaeological site, we soon realised you could spend an entire day there and probably not see it all! Pompeii is absolutely breathtaking. The most searched Google images of these ruins will never do it justice. Walking down the cobbled streets, admiring all the well-preserved ruins and lingering behind tour groups to catch an odd fact here and there, it’s one of the most spellbinding places I’ve ever been to.

If you scroll down, you’ll see a photo gallery (it took a while to choose them as I probably have 1454833+ from this four day trip!). This is a special shout out to Noemi, a student I used to teach in London. Thank you for coming to the airport just to see me for an hour before flying back to Malta. You’re one in a million!
